The Department for Education, Central England Academy Trust and BAM Construction are pleased to share details of their proposals for the development of the new Higham Lane North Academy, off Higham Lane.
The site has been safeguarded for a secondary school by Nuneaton and Bedworth District Council (NBBC) as part of the wider Top Farm development, which will provide 1,700 dwellings, a GP surgery, district centre and primary school, and falls within NBBC's Strategic Allocation Site HSG1 North of Nuneaton.
Higham Lane North Academy will be a state-of-the-art new secondary school, providing education for 900 students between the ages of 11 and 16 years old. The school will support both existing and future residents of the area and follow the successful model seen at Higham Lane School, which was awarded Outstanding by Ofsted in 2019 and was accredited with the World Class Quality Mark in 2021.
The proposals are for a new two storey secondary teaching building, which will include science labs, a drama studio, a music room and state of the art classrooms. The proposals have been carefully considered to create a learning environment that aligns with the Trust’s tradition for high-quality educational provision, academic excellence, exceptional pastoral care and personal development in a school at the heart of the community. Additionally, the proposal includes ample opportunity for sports recreation and education, through the provision of an indoor sports hall, a Multi-Use Games Area and grass pitches for year round sports
